The Boyd-Murphy House was one of the last houses designed by G.W. Smith before his death. It is also one of only two Smith houses in SA that is not designed with a Spanish flavor. The house uses Norman design queues. Built by the Boyd family in 1929, it is distinguished by remarkable woodwork consistent with the fact that the Boyd family owned the largest lumber dealer in the area. The bathroom has hand painted blue and white Talavera, Mexican tiles throughout, a large shower stall, hand painted Talavera sink and plenty of room for storage.
The traditional old-Mexican inspired kitchen shows a colorful display of blue, green, yellow and red hand -painted Talavera, Mexico tiles. Recycled wood was used for the shelving and added a window over the custom-made sink so that we could have a view of the Ocean while we did the dishes. Our kitchen is complete with a six burner stove/oven, large refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, blender, rice cooker, pots/pans, flatware, all utensils, and bottled drinking water.
Both the living room and dining area have views of the Mexican-Caribbean Ocean. The living room is comfortably decorated with a traditional Mexican wood framed love seat, lounge chair, and coffee table. The dining room has an inviting table for four.
For outdoor entertainment, there is a large viewing deck with 180`views of the Mexican-Caribbean Ocean, patio furniture, market umbrella and barbeque.
